Hillary Clinton said it and Obama White House sources have maybe confirmed it. The federal government "will be bringing suit" against the State of Arizona to try to negate the recently passed and signed Arizona law aimed at controlling the influx of illegal immigrants into the Grand Canyon State.
There is no question that the State of Arizona, like many other US states, has a severe problem with the expense, turmoil and division that is caused by the mass of illegal immigrants that currently inhabit it. To date only Arizona has shown the leadership to address and try to solve this issue but several other states have similar curative pieces of state legislation pending. This "protect our borders" activity by the states and the publicity it is receiving has forced the issue upon Obama.
Here is the dilemma facing Obama. He has failed to address, much less resolve, this illegal immigration problem and his failure has been highlighted by the actions of a small southwestern American state. So he can 1) do nothing and sit back hoping for an operational failure in Arizona or he can 2) challenge the actions of Arizona via the court system as a usurpation of the powers of the federal government or 3) he can rise to the occasion, police the border and deport the illegals. In other words, he cheers against the success of one of the states that belongs to the nation he is supposed to be leading or he argues a phony myth that Arizona is harming the curative actions of Washington or he does his job with the possibility of risking that his friends, the progressives, not supporting his 2012 reelection.
Obama, to his thinking, has only one choice and that is to act through the federal courts to try to hinder Arizona. He just will not voluntarily act to control our borders. To control or borders would reflect yet another inconsistency on Obama's part in that he has indicated a desire to push legislation to set up a procedure to naturalize as many as possible of our 12,000,000 illegal aliens. However if his goal is to instantly increase his voting strength via these potentially grateful, newly naturalized Americans, his deadline rapidly approaches. These folks will never be voters by November of 2012.
This political action by Obama to interfere with Arizona will generate a massive negative reaction in America and could well be the straw that breaks the camel's back or in this situation the back of the ass, I mean the donkey, of the Democrat party.
