Recently two separate news items caught my attention and at the same time demonstrated the fiscal irresponsibility of Washington and B. H. Obama.
Most recently a member of the House of Representatives secured a 5 minute time slot to address the nation and his fellow Congressmen from the floor of the House. The speaker was Ted Poe, a Republican from Texas. His presentation advised that there are 192 nations in the world and of that 192 countries the American federal government was giving foreign aid, in the form of US dollars, to 150 of these countries. How is it possible that as America falls further and further into debt our "leaders" can justify sending greenbacks to other lands while our own national financial status grows worse? Of course there are emergencies and natural disasters that require America's attention including the gift of money. However, Representative Poe was absolutely correct in questioning Obama's purpose in these grants and Obama's decision to put the needs of our own citizens behind the needs of 150 foreign nations. In the closing of his presentation, he disclosed that in 2010 Obama donated American dollars as "foreign aid" to such nations as Communist China and Communist Cuba as well as Russia and Venezuela. If this information is correct, there is no valid excuse Obama can give for these particular financial acts.
While on the subject of money as it pertains to our federal government and its spending, a news item was most recent released that reported the deficit spending of the Obama government for the month of February 2011 was $223,000,000,000.00. That is a shortfall of $223.0 Billion in only 28 days and could mean in 2011 the federal government will fall an additional $2,676,000,000,000.00 ($2.676 Trillion) in debt by the end of the year.
Americans are daily faced with economic issues as gas prices surge upwards accompanied by the steady increases in the cost of almost every food item offered in grocery stores. All citizens need to be motivated into exercising good budgetary practices but our leaders in Washington are by far not setting good examples.
