The situation in Libya grows worse daily and as a result the American people are yet again confronted with an international situation that will have no final outcome that can be beneficial to our nation.
With an accomplishment record that stinks (an on-going poor economy, huge under/unemployment figures and a massive, growing federal deficit), there is a real possibility that Obama will soon add another worthless item to his Presidential resume. He will soon direct our armed forces to begin an interventionist role in Libya. This role will be intended to make Qaddafi's government in Libya even more tenuous and soon to fail. It is certainly difficult to continue to entrust the safety of our military personnel in places like Iraq and Afghanistan to the leadership of B.H.O. Adding the Middle-East to the list of areas in which our forces will be intentionally endangered is just unacceptable.
NATO is in the process of declaring a "no fly zone" over parts of Libya and these restricted areas will be patrolled by several nations including the United States. Our war ships in the Mediterranean will be on alert and will be sending their aircraft into action. These ships, including rescue units, will be on 24 hour duty rotations. It will only be a matter of time before American families will be sadly advised that a loved one has been sacrificed in the struggle to pacify a yet another section of the world that has no love for America.
It is interesting to note that there has been no threat of intervention in Libya, or any where else in the Middle-East by Russia or Communist China, although both nations are active in that area of the world and are withdrawing from the danger zones their citizens who were giving technical assistance. However, that champion of freedom, Italy, has unilaterally cancelled its mutual non-aggression pact with Libya. This puts Italy on our side along with the UN which has imposed "punitive financial sanctions" against Libya.
Statistics show that B. H. Obama has barely a 50% positive rating from US citizens and one can only imagine how that rating will sink as the news media begins to publish the names of our American casualties from operations in Libya.
A better response to the situation in Libya is to provide needed protection to Americans and then stand back and allow the citizens of Libya to handle this matter internally. The alternative is to just admit that we see ourselves as world monitors and seize control of this oil rich, poor, third-world, desert nation.
Libya is a great mess no matter how it is approached. The final solution for the role of the US has to be to our immediate direct advantage with all other philosophical approaches being dropped.
