A Simple Statement

A simple statement at a recent Louisville, Kentucky "townhall" meeting clearly defined an aspect of the Obama Administration's agenda to socialize aspects of American life. The meeting had been called by Congressman John Yarmuth [D-Ky] and, as has become common, there was an overflow crowd present along with a noticeable number of law enforcement officers and a balance of anti and pro Obama citizens. A well spoken young man asked Yarmuth just how did Obama plan on paying for the huge projected expense of a federally run healthcare system.

Immediately Yarmuth began to skirt the inquiry but the boos and jeers from the audience cause him to reconsider the evasion technique and announce, "I don't know." The Congressman quickly added that funding would come from savings in Medicare and Medicad expenditures and a tax on the wealthy, an obvious mimicking of Obama's speaking points. But the truth had already been expressed by the "I don't know."

This Yarmuth admission of truth carries with it two sad commentaries on the federal government under the Obama Administration. The first is that there is no comprehension by the progressives as to how their socialist agenda can be funded. In reality these "leaders" don't care about funding sources but care only that their programs become law. The taxation of Americans and particularly the taxation of those Americans who are the driving force behind capitalism will become more severe as the efforts to "redistribute the wealth" and to insure even greater government benefits to all continue. The second is that far too many of the Congressional Representatives blindly follow the White House lead and when pressed for an explanation can answer honestly only by saying, "I don't know."

Even with this admission of ignorance, those like Yarmuth will not be impeded from voting yes to drastically changing yet another aspect of American life, this time healthcare, by moving it into the socialist fold.

The elections of 2010 become more of a "political urgency" every day.
