A Display Of Leadership Traits - Not Obama

At last someone of governmental authority has lashed out at North Korea. This Communist nation has been insulting and ridiculing America at an ever increasing pace for the past several years. The rhetoric has been laughable and hardly worth of a response. However, the atomic bomb tests and the missile launchings and now the cyber attacks on our nation have demonstrated that the North Korean leadership is insane and is actually serious about harming America. It is no longer safe or good international policy for Washington to do nothing but express that America is "deeply concerned" and whine to the UN.

Enter Peter Hoekstra, a Republican Representative from Michigan. In no uncertain terms he has called on the Obama Administration to respond in the way any independent nation would consider appropriate when it has been attacked. No one is advising a military assault on North Korea but there are many actions that Obama can initiate to firmly establish that enough is enough. It is indeed a pity that the North Korean people will be the ones that may suffer some ill affects but to hold the opinion that verbal expressions of dissatisfaction will convince North Korea to modify its behavior is naive.

After some consideration, I have come to the conclusion that our President lacks in his character those traits that would allow him to be confrontational. Given the campaign publicised personal history of Obama, this was a really difficult and inconsistent decision to justify but real history forced no other. In President Obama we have a man who overcame being of mixed-raced parents; overcame the absence of his mother and his father; overcame the religious conflict of being born a Muslim and then a converted Christian; overcame being an apparent Black child being raised by an obviously White grandmother; and overcame being of a lower social/financial heritage and class than of his Ivy League college classmates. Such a man would have to be confident and strong of character. Or so it seemed.

In fact he can't think on his own but relies on a teleprompter; takes an insult from a Latin American leader delivered in person and does not respond; lets a group of foreign students laugh at his representative and does nothing; humbly bows to an Arab prince like it was a natural reaction; allows a small foreign nation to threaten and harm America without making it pay the price; allows foreign nations to confer on how to marginalize America and does not intervene; allows an international financial group to question American solvency and answers the insult by paying it $5,000,000,000.00; and lets a Communist leader of a foreign country lecture to him in person and in public for a hour without interrupting him once with a solid, "Who in the hell do you think your talking to?"

The inconsistency with how Obama should act as a result of his background and his actual behavior since being elected President is almost irreconcilable. The only conclusions that can be advanced are that he is part of a conspiracy to destroy America, which I refuse to believe, or he lacks the character traits necessary to stand up to those with whom he is unfamiliar - like foreign nations and those nations' leaders.

He is fundamentally insecure and therefore not only a very poor selection as the leader of America but a real threat and detriment to our nation. We need more men like Peter Hoekstra.
