Our current batch of national leaders, and I use that term "national leaders" only as a means of identification and not as a complement, are about to consider and most likely approve the spending of another $26,000,000,000.00. That is $26.0 Billion. Our nation does not have this $26,000,000,000.00 and so we taxpayers will receive the tab as America falls further into debt to Communist China.
The purpose of this new appropriation is to "bail out" state and local governments.
Led by the terrible financial examples of California and Michigan and New York, these and many other states and local government entities are faced with the hard but necessary decision to lessen expenses by terminating services and employment positions. To scare the common citizen, these financially strained governments are expressing the need to terminate police contracts and firemen contracts and, worse of all, the contracts of teachers.
Factually no cop or teacher or fireman would have to lose a job but over staffing of these and many other government agencies, quite often with political appointees, would have to stop.
Obama and the liberal/socialist/progressive allies he has in Congress don't believe in the economic theory of "scaling back" and saving money. Of course such programs would be hard on the American public and unappreciated by that sphere of our citizens who don't like working but do like getting government assistance. In the long run it would be much more effective for our nation to draw back to some degree rather than continue to incur additional billions of dollars of debt.
If you are wondering why Obama is having such a difficult time in making wise business decisions aimed at turning-around the American economy, let these facts give you some insight. It is well known that Obama never in his adult life had a payroll obligation to meet or any other crucial business decisions to make. He has never been a business executive much less a business leader. This is not an unusual characteristic of our Presidents.
Recognizing the need to have business leaders in the Presidential Cabinet to advise on economic matters has caused our past Presidents to seek and name this type of American to serve in this highest of appointed government positions. In Reagan's cabinet 56% of the positions were held by business leaders. The older Bush had 55% of his cabinet being business executives while his son, had 51%. Clinton was lower with only 39% of his cabinet being of this type of experienced citizen and Carter had only 32%.
During the depression, FDR recruited many national business leaders to government positions to assist in dragging America out of the depression. These leaders commonly served at the compensation rate of $1.00 a year.
What about Obama? With all the various economic problems facing our nation from terrible unemployment to a massive federal debt, BHO has elected to have only 8% of his cabinet appointees coming from the ranks of American businessmen. Is there any doubt now as to the reason why after almost 18 months in office Obama has failed terribly to restore or even stabilize the American economy?
The fact has to be admitted and faced that our nation as a whole and every citizen as an individual are going to have to sacrifice a bit in order to restore the financial credibility of America. This economic restoration is not the desire of Obama. Instead he would like to make the whole population of our country dependant on his Washington government. This citizen dependency on the federal government is the ultimate goal of every liberal/socialist/progressive and that includes our President.
